Description

The district library was established by the order of the Ust-Ordynsky district department of cultural and educational work on June 1, 1946 at the district Museum of Local Lore, History and Economy. The library's collection includes rare and valuable books. Among them are pre-revolutionary editions of Russian classics - Pushkin A.S., Tolstoy A.N., Gogol N.V., Uspensky G.I., Krylov I.A., as well as “Izbornik of Sviatoslav” (1870), Mongolian grammar book (1935). The pride of the Library is a rare collection of works in three volumes (1958-1960) of Khangalov M.N., a famous countryman, ethnographer, folklore collector. As of January 1, 2013 the library's collection amounted to more than 84,000 copies of documents in traditional and electronic formats. Library services cover 37% of the settlement's adult population. 94.7% of schoolchildren in the settlement are also our readers. On average 160 people attend the library per day.
